What is a Style & Concept Consultation?

INCLUDED IN YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION IS A STYLE & CONCEPT CONSULTATION. BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN AND WHY IS IT HELPFUL?

MEETING & DISCUSSING DETAILS

During this meeting I come to your home. First, this is a great opportunity for us to meet in person, if we haven’t already. We will chat about the session and go over any details, including specific shots you want to make sure we achieve or rooms that we want to shoot in or are off limits. If we'll be shooting outside on location we can talk about how the session will flow and if there are any particular areas you want to make sure we shoot in. It's also a good time to talk about your children's personalities and how they feel about the shoot. If you’ve chosen hair & make up we can go over those prep details at this time as well.

CHECKING OUT THE SHOOTING SPACE

If we will be shooting in your home we can look at the rooms. We’ll talk about lighting - whether we can use natural or artificial. We’ll see if we we might need to make any tweaks to furniture set up, such as scooch the crib or chair closer to a window. Having advanced knowledge about the setup of your home is a great way to streamline the shooting process, making things run faster and smoother.

YOUR WARDROBE

If you’re having trouble deciding what to wear this is a great opportunity to take advantage of my expertise! I am more than happy to take a peek into your closet with you and pull some pieces that would work for the shoot. Going through what you have can also minimize what you might need to buy if you’d considered shopping for the shoot. If you want some advanced ideas be sure to check out my Pinterest board.

CLIENT CLOSET

As a client, you have access to my “Client Closet” which includes children’s clothing, wraps and props. While many of the items are available to view online, I’m happy to bring along some pieces for you to see in person. This is especially helpful if you have young children and you’d like to try things on for sizing. If we’re talking about a newborn shoot, matching colors to your home decor is a great way to shoot for wall art and I can bring some options to take a look at ahead of time.

WALL ART

Usually we are shooting with the intent of decorating some of the walls in your home. Allowing me inside your home gives me the opportunity of a sneak peek at your style - colors you're drawn to and the overall styling of your home. I can also snap a few photos of potential wall spaces for you so that we can later view various sizes digitally, giving you a preview of what everything will look like in real life!

PRICING & PRODUCTS

While at this point we’ve discussed general product pricing and spending ranges, I do bring along a catalog with some more specific item descriptions and pricing for you to keep to look over and think about what might work best for you and your family. Additionally I bring along a few samples of products for you to take a look at in person.

This meeting is a fun way for us to connect in advance and make sure we’re on the same page in terms of your overall expectations, iron out details, get excited for your up-coming shoot and answer any last minute questions!
