My baby is already over a week. Is it too late for a Newborn Session?

Nope! You're in luck because the best thing about natural sessions in that Baby gets to be themself! Posed newborns need to be sleepy, and therefore very new in order squish them into all those little positions, but for us we're going au natural. An "older" newborn is typically more awake and more alert which allows for more opportunity of shots with connection and engagement. 

And, my favorite part is that waiting gives you time to settle in and figure things out a bit before a lady with a camera comes through the door! 

I photograph newborns all the way up to 8 weeks, but I find the sweet spot to be 3-5 weeks.

What about if baby is older than 8 weeks? No problem! "New Baby Sessions" are very similar!

Do I need to get anything for my baby to wear? 

Don’t worry about a thing—I bring everything we’ll need for your newborn, right to your home. That includes soft wraps, cozy blankets, a curated selection of timeless baby outfits in a variety of colors, and simple accessories like bonnets and bows if you’d like them. You’ll get to see samples during your in-home style and concept consultation, and we’ll talk through things like color schemes and overall vibe so everything feels cohesive and personal. You don’t need to buy or prep anything unless there’s a special item you want to include—I'll take care of the rest so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

How long is the session? 

Typically the session is under 2 hours. Length of time varies depending on how long it takes to initially settle your baby and whether siblings or other family members are involved.

I'm so awkward in front of the camera. How will I know what to do?

Don't stress! One great thing about this type of session is you just get to be yourself! But if you have insecurities or just want some direction, I've got you! I will tell you where to go, where to look, and adjust things like hair and posture and we can use angles and tricks to mask any areas you'd rather not highlight.

Do you know how to handle a baby?

Yes I do! I do a lot of it and I take safety very seriously! I've been doing this for close to 10 years and have 2 children of my own. But remember, we're not posing Baby, so we aren't typically putting them in any positions they wouldn't normally be in. I also don't handle your baby the entire time - usually mainly at the beginning when I'm wrapping and positioning them for details shots. My wrapping technique is very safe and babies usually love it and settle right down and take a nap. And the rest of the time they'll be in your arms!

What should I expect to invest?

Because each family’s needs and goals are different, we’ll start with a conversation to understand what matters most to you. Some families want a single statement piece; others want an album to pass down or a full wall gallery. Your final investment will depend on the type of artwork you choose and how you’d like to preserve your images.

Your session fee includes either a collection of digital images or a credit toward an heirloom collection or wall art.  After your session, we’ll meet for a relaxed ordering appointment where I’ll guide you through selecting your favorite images. Each chosen image includes both the high-resolution digital file and a tangible piece (such as a custom album or matted print collection) designed to live beautifully in your home.

You’ll only invest in what you truly love, but most families find that once they see their story told this way, they want to keep more than they expected!
