How to Build a Six-Figure Photography Business Without a Studio

One of the biggest myths in photography is that you need a studio to be successful. I’m here to tell you that you don’t. I built my six-figure business by offering in-home sessions, and not having a studio actually worked to my advantage.

Let me share how you can do the same.

Why In-Home Sessions Are a Game-Changer

  • Convenience for clients: Newborn parents don’t want to pack up and travel to a studio. Bringing the session to them makes their lives easier—and they’ll pay for that convenience.

  • Variety of shots: In-home sessions provide more variety because you can use different rooms, outdoor spaces, and family interactions.

  • No overhead costs: Without a studio, you’re not paying rent or utilities, which keeps your expenses lower and your profits higher.

How to Create a Luxury In-Home Experience

  1. Offer in-home consultations: Help clients plan outfits, choose session locations, and envision final products.

  2. Bring everything they need: From wraps and props to lighting and wardrobe options, make sure they don’t have to lift a finger.

  3. Include premium add-ons: Professional hair and makeup, custom wall art design, and installation can elevate the experience.

Success Without a Studio

I built my business around in-home sessions, and it’s been the key to my success. You can do this too—and my free guide, Make the Leap to Luxury: 5 Steps to Start Charging What You’re Worth, will help you get started.
